Fox Improvements Prep

Prep

Prep work required from job to job varies. The most important prep work consists of protecting flooring in our work spaces. Other prep items may include wiping down materials, covering additional items with plastic and/or taping things off to get everything ready for the next step in the process. This part of the process is included in every job as this helps produce the best results and protects our customers items.

Fox Improvements Drywall Patching

Drywall Patching

Drywall patching includes any work that is required to get a surface as smooth as possible for a paintable/ stainable surface. Drywall patching can be a time consuming part of the process as each layer of mud must completely dry before the next steps can be taken. We here at Fox Improvements consider a drywall patch to be anything smaller than or equal to (2) two feet by two feet holes with patching nail pops, minor bumps and any other minor drywall imperfections included. This service includes the price for primer to blend the drywall patch into the painted/ stainable surface.

Fox Improvements Primer

Primer

Primer isn't always needed as a primer may be required any time there is a water stain, mold, oil finish or new drywall. Paint and primer should never be mixed as you either need primer or paint, not both.

Number of Coats.jpg

Number of Coats

Are you not sure if you will need one or two coats of paint for your next interior painting project? There are many factors to take into consideration when deciding if one or two coats will be needed. Some items to consider are the old paint color, the new paint color, the paint type, the wall condition, lighting and more. Yes, the industry standard is two coats, however, we have completed many jobs with just one coat and you would never know without being told. The reason we bring this up, there is a price difference between one or two coats. Yes, we here at Fox Improvements change the price based on the number of coats.

Fox Improvements Painting

Painting

Painting is what we do best via brush and roller over a sprayer. Items that we can paint may consist of walls, ceilings, trim, doors, windows, railings, stairs, fireplace, kitchen cabinets, shiplap, board & batten and so much more. See our Portfolio page for examples.

Fox Improvements Spot Paint

Spot Paint

Are there some spots around your house that your looking to have touched up? We here consider spot paint to be anything from one 2 foot by 2 foot spot that needs blended back into the wall to match the original room color all the way down to a small paint scratch from moving furniture around your home. If you happen to know the color the room was previously painted, let us know as that makes the process easier. However, if you don't know the original paint color, we have methods to be able to get very close to the original color.

Fox Improvements Nail Pops

Nail Pops

Have you ever noticed small holes that seem to be spaced apart in a pattern? Those small holes may be nail pops. A nail pop occurs when the weight of the drywall, combined with the vibrations of your home, causes the nail to move, creating a nail pop. These are not very common as modern homes are built with drywall screws instead of nails. If you have experienced nail pops, please select this service on the estimate request and add the number of nail pops to the notes for our guestimate pricing. Please note, if you have selected drywall patch services, this service will not be needed as drywall patches include fixing nail pops as part of the service.

Fox Improvements Remove Wall Paper

Wall Paper Removal

Are you ready to remove that wall paper? Our team soaks the wallpaper with water to remove it. Then we apply a stain blocking primer to prepare the surface for either a skim coat if needed or just paint. This service is a time and material service, meaning we will not provide an estimate to complete the removal of wallpaper.  We will not install new wallpaper as we don't like the removal process. (Please note, we here at Fox Improvements don't recommend painting over wall paper as the glue may start to react to the paint.)
